Electronic producer Gidon Schocken has shared ‘Sunn (ft. Afik Doari)’ single and music video. The single has already racked up over 50 000 streams with the video hitting over 10 000 views.
Originally from the USA, Schocken moved to Israel where he discovered the cultural mosaic that the country has to offer. The mandatory army service that he participated in only fuelled his passion for music, pushing him to study music production and finally pursuing his solo career.
The music video takes place in a simple family home, with the loved ones gathering for a meal. The tone starts light while turning darker, as followed by the lighting, make up and wardrobe. We see a young woman struggling with herself and the impact it has on her family as she lashes out. The loops displayed get stranger, sucking the viewer in, until finally the room is bathed in red and there’s a strong impression of blood.
Schocken shared a little bit about the inspiration behind the dynamic music video, ‘For me ‘Sunn’ is about getting stuck in behavioural loops – sometimes we don’t realize at first that we’re going through one of these, but eventually we can learn to detect them, move through and release ourselves from them. The song features lyrics and vocals by Afik Doari, I’ve always been a fan of her unique accent, vocal colour and style, she really brought the track together. The video Directed by Stephan Stelman, centres around a girl sitting at a dining table with her parents. She loses herself for a few moments and is soon stuck in an ever-changing loop. Throughout this, she’s seen going into her own little world, where she begins to learn, discover and try to free herself.’
