Larch experiment with dystopian sondscapes on ‘A Mirror In Ultraviolence’

Experimental electronic duo Larch are an interesting find. The Cardiff-based producers have just released their new track ‘A Mirror in Ulraviolence‘ and if you’re into thought-provoking, slightly dystopian soundscapes, this one is for you.

Larch is the collaborative enterprise of Kai and Matt. The duo create sonic narratives reflecting both beauty and discomfort, embracing the power of sound to investigate themes such as struggle and self-actualisation. “A Mirror in Ultraviolence’ is a song about the interaction between beauty and decay. Using melody and tempo as our controls, we wanted to explore whether individuals find beauty in a single moment in time, or whether our understanding of beauty is better captured and understood through our experiences of decay” they explain.

The track is lifted from their imminent EP The World is Dangerous; Go Outside, which will also be available on cassette tape on November 22nd.

If it is true that art should disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed, then Larch have done their job as artist well. Listen below:
