Tottenham producer Studio 28 arrives with brooding meditative instrumental debut ‘Whole,New’.
The first release from the North London producer draws on generations of electronic inspiration, from Aphex Twin and Air, to Vegyn, and Duval Timothy. The record features explorative beats with warm analogue tones, supplemented by organic instruments making for a mesmerising first listen.
Speaking of the release Studio 28 said “The project was born out of an existential reflection as the world paused in early 2020. Beginning to create and ask what Studio 28 sounds like has been liberating. Out of that question ‘Whole, New’ was born.”
‘Whole, New’ is a strong expression of experimentation, taking the listener on a journey with a multitude of tricks and twists, whilst remaining a relaxing listen. You can hear the inspirations steeped in the recording without it ever feeling contrived or derivative. ‘Whole, New’ is an enticing teaser for what the artist promises ahead.
