Californian electronic music project, Adult Bodies, released an emotional and heartbreaking new single, ‘Consumed By You’ on 21 September. Consisting of sole member Steven Wilkin, a singer songwriter and producer who used to be the powerhouse rock ‘n roll vocals behind the band Sun Drug, where he’s performed across the country, selling out the Troubadour, Bootleg Theater and The Echo.

‘Consumed By You’ resonates a sense of dread from the very beginning. Electronic beats and hypnotic synths guide the listener while being caressed by Wilkin’s emotional lyrics. Just before the 2 minute mark an unexpected break occurs which could symbolise Adult Bodies accepting that he might also have played a part in the end of this relationship.

Adult Bodies’ debut track is a masterpiece in putting emotion into music. Each note makes your heart ache with longing as you can’t help but be entrenched in the track’s melancholy. It’s not all down in the dumps though, as the vocal work along with the layered production makes ‘Consumed By You’ soar above the rest. If this is what Adult Bodies has to offer, then we absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for this promising musical project!
