Earlier this month, composer vaghy planted a seed. Tilling the creative landscape, he prepared listeners for what will be shared here today. Having released an original mixed-media music video for his already released single ‘Bite’, a track that was featured in his debut album Minimalism, the composer went on to announce that he would be releasing a new album, which is officially available across platforms and on vinyl as of today.

Titled granum, the 9-track project is pure piano – no frills, no flourishes. Just good, ol’ keys. Shining a spotlight on the composer’s classical training, and thereby highlighting his raw ability, the work carries a vulnerable quality. Exposed, there are no walls of sound behind which vaghy can hide, but luckily he doesn’t need to. His work stands proud.

“The goal of the album was for the songs to be part of the whole,” said the composer. “I saw a way to do this: if the album is recorded in one play.” He didn’t stop there. Rather, he mentioned that “…the musical material is 100% improvisation.”
