Christopher Lee, once known as Limaçon, has re-emerged after a 15-year silence with his new ambient project Conrosa, unleashing Held in the Unfolding on August 16, 2025. This isn’t the high-octane electronic sound Lee built his name on with releases via PokerFlat, Force Inc, and Thoughtless. Instead, it’s a raw, introspective pivot shaped by his battle with chronic illness, a sonic lifeline that threads healing, vulnerability, and transformation into every note. Now based in Northern California, the producer and psychedelic guide crafts ambient music that hits different, pulling listeners into a headspace that’s equal parts somatic and soul-searching.
The album’s seven tracks carve out a deliberate journey. Kicking off with ‘Rhodes of Ananda‘, Lee layers bird calls and tidal swells into a soft, spiritual entry point that sets the vibe. ‘Around the Corner‘ picks up with handpan grooves and a fractured beat, hinting at motion amid the stillness. Tracks like ‘Homecoming‘ and ‘Lightness of Being‘ lean into melody, offering tender reprieves, while ‘Perseverance‘ and ‘Connection‘ wrestle with heavier vibes through dense, rhythmic stacks. The closer, ‘Simply’, stretches out into a vast, cosmic exhale, tying it all together with a sense of resolution.
Christopher Lee shared: “This album arose out of what I needed in a chronically depleted state. At some points, all I could do was make music. These songs helped me cultivate hope, meaning, and solace through the most difficult time in my life.” This is Conrosa’s way of turning personal struggle into a shared space for reflection, landing somewhere between ambient heavyweights like Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm.
