Ed is Dead’s latest album GLOBAL SICKNESS (Idioteque Records) was released yesterday and takes the listener through a spectrum of emotions that can be hard to be defined at times. With Eduardo Ostos’s (Ed is Dead) ethereal rhythm paired together with closing notes that feel cinematic at times, you are bound to be charmed with the producer’s flair for dramatics and electronic hooks. Known for a more melancholic direction, Ed is Dead raised a few curious eyebrows for fans with the vibrant and somewhat liberating single ‘Endlessly’.

DoofDoof (read interview) raised this point about the different energy of the release with the producer earlier this month, he responded accordingly: “I agree that it is a more jovial sound relatively atypical in me but I would not consider it an evolution. I think that I always try both in my albums and in my songs to force contrasts a lot, anyone who has heard a little of my previous works knows that I really like to play with extremes and dynamics. It is true that I tend to always be in tones minor and generally more melancholic compositions, but I constantly try to get out of that comfort zone.”

The producer continues to create music that he feels passionate about, without compromising his creativity. Ed is Dead is a rare act that many should support in the future, he follows his own tune and makes breathtaking releases – a beautiful process. Ed is Dead is a force that one can be drawn to for ages. GLOBAL SICKNESS is a poignant, daring, and important work to be absorbed.
