Stepping out of his role as one half of the renowned duo Kiasmos, Janus Rasmussen has shared his single ‘Green Wine’ as a lead-in to upcoming album Vín, due for release on the 8th of March via Christian Löffler’s Ki Records.
Vín was conceived largely as an experiment. Throwing caution to the wind, Rasmussen started slipping a few of his unfinished tracks into sets, and was pleasantly surprised to realise how well they were being received.
“I had been playing a lot of these songs [live], and they were working really well. I didn’t really tell anyone what the songs were, but they were obviously really fitting into the sets, as they’re not too far off from the Kiasmos sound, despite being different. I had never done that before: playing unfinished tracks and just seeing the reaction. It was super fun, actually. You learn a lot about your own music when you do that.” he says.
‘Green Wine’ makes for a great harbinger of things to come on the upcoming album, and indicates that there should be no doubt that Vín will be a phenomenal piece of work. The track is as much a mastery of sound as it is of musical prowess, and its amalgamation of intricate nature within a simple structure is what makes it so enticing.
