Kinobe shares a mellow fifth album, ‘Out Of The Blue’

British chill band Kinobe released their fifth studio album, Out of The Blue, on August 9, 2024, through the SGKL imprint. The album follows their single ‘Lucky Stars’, which garnered radio support from NPR Music, KCRW’s Metropolis, KEXP, FG Chic, and SBS Chill. The album was recorded at their beach house in Western Australia and mastered by Frank Arkwright (Blur, New Order, Coldplay, Oasis and many more) at Abbey Road. With an impressive 50 million Spotify streams, Kinobe has seen endorsements from CLASH Mag, Mixmag, DJ Mag, and features in The Guardian and The Independent, Kinobe has become a leading name in downtempo music. Their sound, influenced by a wide range of artists from Nelson Riddle to sixties bands like Canned Heat, is often compared to lounge icons such as Air, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and Groove Armada.

Out of The Blue pushes Kinobe’s signature lounge chill into psychedelic territory. The standout track, ‘It’s Only A Dream’, opens with sweeping cinematic strings before launching into a breezy groove that feels almost weightless. With whimsical strings, surfy guitar, minimal synth bass, and occasional smooth vocals offering psychedelic insights, the track creates a surreal, Alice In Wonderland-esque experience. It perfectly encapsulates the album’s lush, buoyant sound, inviting listeners on a nostalgic journey through the warmth of the sixties and beyond.

Kinobe shared:I’ve always been fascinated by where ideas and inspiration come from. This album is an expression of how when you clear your mind it can open a door to somewhere else.”
