Swedish-born, LA-based producer Olovson just put out his second full-length UNTANGLE today, November 19, 2025, through his own label 1136 Diamond. After breaking through with the mostly instrumental Storytelling back in 2022, which racked up over 3 million streams and nods from Rolling Stone India, Wonderland Magazine, CLASH, PopMatters, BBC Radio 6, and NTS, he’s flipping the script hard this time. For the first time, his own voice drives everything. The guy started on piano at seven in a musical family, was cutting original tracks as a teen, and has Grammy-winning credits from work with Frank Ocean, Dua Lipa, and Mark Ronson. Tracks like ‘Books Are Flying’ landed in the SHOWTIME series The Man Who Fell to Earth, and the ‘Gyroscope’ video hit nominations at BAFTA-qualifying fests like Encounters and London Short Film Festival.
The record shifts seamlessly across textures, from hazy ambient electronica and lo-fi R&B grooves to jazz-inflected piano pieces that feel impressionistic and raw. Olovson keeps that intimate piano core but layers in subtle vocals that pull you in close. Lead single ‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND’ already grabbed love from NPR Music, KCRW, and KEXP 90.3 FM, while the title track slotted into Spotify‘s New Music Friday Sweden playlist and got its video premiered on KALTBLUT Magazine. Focus cut ‘RIVER’ nails the album’s vibe best, with its drifting, wistful R&B lean, experimental production tricks, and nods to heads like James Blake, Sampha, or Blood Orange. He even shot and edited the stop-motion video himself on an iPhone, showing a puppet building a raft in the woods and drifting off, quiet and direct.
Olovson shared: “The album takes you from track 1 (‘THINGS I COULD’VE LEFT BEHIND’) you’ve held on to baggage and it’s too heavy to carry any longer so you make the decision to face it and put down your baggage. all the way to the last track (‘FLOWERS TOLD ME SO’) where nature, which has been here forever way longer than us, gives us peace in telling us everything will move on, everything will grow again, everything is moving on and so should you.”
