Mattia Cupelli, film score and ambient electronic producer, has just released his latest LP, UNDERNEATH on the 8th of August via MC Records. Cupelli is influenced by classical musicians such as Nils Frahm, Nicolas Jaar and Ryuichi Sakamoto while retaining a modern sound throughout his work.
The producers love of cinematography shines through with the LP, as the music itself takes you on a journey. In this modern day, it’s rare to find such a cohesive sound across an album, with the listener truly being rewarded for sitting and listening to it with their undivided attention.
Even the trio of track releases heralding the LP were well thought out, with the first being ‘MONO NO AWARE’, delving into the awareness of impermanence. You can read more about this single in our previous article here. The second one to follow was ‘KOGARASHI’, meaning the winds that signal the beginning of winter or the winds of change, if you prefer. Finally, came the eloquently named track, ‘ONWARDS’, which will highlight the producers own steps onwards towards new musical concepts.
