Interview with Japanese music producer Linn Mori

Japanese music producer Linn Mori was featured with TV, magazine, radio and events like NHK World, Sound & Recording Magazine, Taicoclub, J-Wave, dublab, USEN and Radio Nova. Based on the music box and flute, the countermelody is intertwined. An irregular drum pattern adds movement to the song. Various sounds constantly appear and disappear.

Linn Mori announces a new song ‘Turquoise Drop’ from his new upcoming album “Digital Church” which is set to be released on the 6th of May 2020.

Describe your sound for us. What do you want people to feel when they hear your music?

Melancholic and nostalgic.
I want people to feel my music freely.

Which 3 artists have influenced you the most growing up?

Miles Davis, D’angelo, Autechre.

How did you discover your particular sound?

Sounds of nature-inspired me to find my own sounds.

What are the most important pieces of equipment to you?

Piano, it is the king of the musical instruments.

What outside of music inspires you to create?

Film, game, manga and anime.

Do you have a favourite memory of your career so far that you will take with you forever?

Collaboration with “illion” (Yojiro Noda from RADWIMPS).

If you could work with, or perform alongside any artist living or passed, who would it be?

Mainly, Thundercat, Robert Glasper, Kendrick Lamer but I can’t write everything cause it’s too many.
Most artists say that if they weren’t artists they would be mailmen/women… what would you be?
Just an unemployed…

What can we expect from you in the near future? Any upcoming projects or gigs in the pipeline that you would like to tell us about?

My new album “Digital Church” is a trilogy which consists of 3 albums and those will be released in the near future.
