Ever sit outside at night and look up in awe as you count the stars in the sky? The natural beauty that surrounds us daily is something we shouldn’t take for granted if we are lucky enough to still have our vision intact. A backing soundtrack track for these spectacular nightly occurrences would be electronica duo BYLJA’s new EP Sojourn. Released via Springstoff, the EP is comprised of five richly textured tracks that will have you fixated with outer space.

The duo consists of old school friends Marchel Mørk and Emil Aagaard who bonded over their love for synthesizers, amongst many other things. This EP is drenched in invigorating synth layers that make you feel like you are floating towards the galaxy.  Track ‘Unity & Division’ best showcases this idea with its ethereal notes. ‘Another State Of Matter’ does a complete 360-degree turn with its energetic and pounding instrumentation. Surprisingly, ‘Rings of Eradication’ reverts back to the tone of the first track and we assume that the rest of the EP will flow in this pattern of synthesizer and then pounding rhythms. Doesn’t it feel like the guys are trying to mimic the ebb and flow of the universe and its constantly rotating planets?

We are delightfully mistaken as the EP ends off with a big bang being ‘Three Earths’. This track just turns everything we have heard before on its head. Explosive and impactful would describe this memorable ending that is a melting pot of synth and electronics that are free to mingle.
